Your say on the SPA: 2024 AGM agenda

This year's SPA National Conference is almost here, and we can't wait to be in Bristol for #SPANC24.

We've got a jam-packed agenda of panels, workshops, networking and awards ahead as we prepare to descend on Bristol University Students' Union on 12-14 April.

One of the most important things we’ll do over the course of the weekend will be holding our Annual General Meeting. Every year we bring our members together to elect a new committee as well as determine the focus of our organisation for the year ahead.

This year’s AGM is going to be held on Sunday 14 April, the last day of #SPANC24, at 11:30am.

We’ll be discussing any motions which have proposed by members, receiving a Trustees’ report and financial accounts, as well as electing all five Executive Officers.

To get ahead of how it will play out, and what you and other members will get a say on, take a look through our full 2024 AGM agenda here.

Ultimately it's one of the main ways of our members can lead and direct our organisation, through:

  • Scrutinising the work of the SPA, by looking over and questioning reports and accounts;
  • Steering the direction and strategy of the SPA, by submitting, discussing and then voting on motions; and
  • Standing for election, and vote to elect officers and trustees to lead the SPA for the next year (and beyond).

You'll be able to decide to run for an SPA position on the day, but keep your eyes peeled for further info on SPA's channels and workshops at #SPANC24 for any advice. If you'd like to reach out to find out more about what's involved, please do contact richard@spajournalism.com

You'll find a guide on how the AGM runs and how to get involved here.

Then get ready for #SPANC24 where you'll have your say on the SPA, and how we help make a better future for student publications across the country.
