#SPANC26 - submit your motions now

SPA National Conference 2026 (#SPANC26) is just weeks away. For those who have already bought their ticket, that means you get to look forward to a jam-packed agenda of panels, networking and awards.

For those who haven't - you haven't got much time left to join us at UEA in Norwich from 27-29 March, in partnership with Concrete.

One of the most important things we’ll do during the conference will be holding our Annual General Meeting (AGM). Every year we bring our members together to elect a new committee, as well as decide the focus of the SPA for the year ahead.

This year’s AGM is going to be held on Sunday 29 March, the last day of #SPANC26, at 11:30am.

The deadline to submit motions is 5pm Tuesday 3 March.

We’ll be discussing any motions proposed by members, receiving a Trustees’ report and financial accounts, as well as electing all six Executive Officers.

Read how to get involved in our full guide.

Ultimately the AGM is one of the main ways our members can lead and direct our organisation, through:

  1. Scrutinising the work of the SPA, by looking over and questioning reports and accounts
  2. Steering the direction and strategy of the SPA, by submitting, discussing and then voting on motions
  3. Standing for election, and voting to elect officers and trustees to lead the SPA for the next year (and beyond)
To take part:
  • The deadline to submit motions is 5pm 3 March. Please use our Get Involved in the SPA guide to help you with the format. The motions should be submitted to both chair@spajournalism.com and emma@spajournalism.com
  • You'll be able to decide to run for an SPA position on the day, but keep your eyes peeled for further info on SPA's channels. If you'd like to reach out, please do contact emma@spajournalism.com or any other Executive Officer / Trustee
  • The final agenda will be sent out a couple of weeks before #SPANC26 - so make sure you read through everything and are prepared to help take charge!
